CYCLESX

Manual · 3

Settings reference

Every setting in CyclesX, in the order the settings window shows them. The defaults suit most charts; this page explains what each one does and when you might change it.

Open the settings by double-clicking the indicator name on the chart, or with the gear icon next to it. TradingView saves settings per chart layout, so each layout can have its own.

Which settings decide the cycles

The scan finds up to three cycles. Most of CyclesX is built from them; only a few settings steer which cycles are used.

Cycle range and window

Default: Preset

Min and max cycle length, and the analysis window (Preset group): the lengths the scan searches and how much history it measures.

Cycles in composite and spacing

Default: 3 · 1.3x

How many cycles are used, and how far apart in length they must be (Cycle wave group).

Rank cycles by

Default: Strength

Decides which cycle counts as dominant (General group).

Cycles

Default: Spectral analysis

Whether the three FLDs use the cycles measured by spectral analysis or Hurst’s classic ladder (Hurst layer).

Trade cycle

Default: Dominant

Which of the three you trade: its FLD gives the target, stop and signal (Hurst layer).

What uses what

Default:

Dominant cycle only: the Dominant Cycle grade and the Cycle RSI. All three: the cycle wave, Position in Cycle, Summary, Turn Zone, Composite row, and the troughs and expected troughs. Trade cycle: the FLD target, stop and signal. The other two (agreement cycles): the grade A/B/C and the Bigger trend row.

⚙️ Preset

The preset fills in sensible values for the chart’s timeframe. Any setting in this group left at 0 follows the preset; type a value to override just that one, and set it back to 0 to return to the preset.

Timeframe preset

Default: Auto (chart timeframe)

Chooses the cycle range, analysis window, projection length, trend fade and the strictness of the quality check for a timeframe. Auto follows the chart. Pick a fixed preset only if you want, say, 1H settings on a 2H chart.

Options: Auto, 1m, 5m, 15m, 1H, 4H, 1D, 1W, 1M

Min cycle length (bars)

Default: 0 (preset)

The shortest cycle the scan looks for. Raise it to ignore fast, noisy rhythms.

Max cycle length (bars)

Default: 0 (window ÷ 5)

The longest cycle the scan looks for. By default it is a fifth of the analysis window, so every cycle can repeat at least five times. Raising it lets longer cycles in, but they will have fewer repeats and are harder to confirm.

Analysis window (bars)

Default: 0 (preset)

How much recent history the scan measures. Ideally about five times the longest cycle. Longer windows give steadier cycles but react more slowly to changes.

Bars to project

Default: 0 (preset)

How far ahead the dashed cycle wave is drawn.

Trend fade in the projection

Default: 0 (preset)

How quickly the trend under the dashed wave flattens out. Higher values fade the trend faster, so the projection leans less on the current trend.

🧭 General

How CyclesX updates and what it draws on the price chart.

Source

Default: close

The price series the scan measures. Close works for almost every chart.

Update on bar close only

Default: On

On: everything is worked out once per closed bar and does not move while the current bar forms. Off: everything is redrawn on every tick, including the forming bar. Keep it on unless you want to watch a bar develop.

Rank cycles by

Default: Strength

How the scan orders the cycles it finds. Strength favours cycles that are large for their length. Amplitude favours the biggest swings, which tends to pick longer cycles.

Options: Strength, Amplitude

Bars of history to draw

Default: 1000

How far back the wave, FLDs and troughs are drawn. Fewer bars keep the chart lighter.

Cycle wave on price chart

Default: Off

Draws the cycle wave over the candles, riding on the smooth trend. Off by default; the wave is shown in the pane instead.

Show its projection (dashed)

Default: On

Draws the dashed continuation of the wave into the future.

Cycle wave colour on price chart

Default: Cyan

Colour of the wave on the price chart.

📈 Pane and Cycle RSI

What the indicator’s own pane shows, and how the Cycle RSI behaves.

Pane shows

Default: Cycle wave

Cycle RSI: an RSI tuned to a cycle, with adaptive bands. Cycle wave: the composite cycle on its own scale, without the trend. Both: the wave with the Cycle RSI scaled onto it. To see them in separate panes, add CyclesX to the chart twice.

Options: Cycle wave, Cycle RSI, Cycle wave + Cycle RSI

Cycle RSI vibration

Default: 10

How much the Cycle RSI is smoothed. Higher is smoother but slower.

Cycle RSI leveling %

Default: 10

How far out the adaptive bands sit. Lower values put the bands further out, so the Cycle RSI reaches them less often.

Cycle RSI length

Default: Dominant cycle (scan)

Which cycle the Cycle RSI is tuned to. Dominant cycle: the strongest cycle from the scan. Trade cycle: the cycle chosen under Hurst layer › Trade cycle, the one the signal trades. Manual: the length below.

Options: Trade cycle, Dominant cycle (scan), Manual

Cycle RSI manual length

Default: 20

The cycle length in bars when Cycle RSI length is Manual.

Cycle RSI colour / band colour

Default: Fuchsia / aqua

Colours of the Cycle RSI line and its bands.

🔬 Cycle filters

How strict CyclesX is about which cycles count as real.

Require stability

Default: On

Stability (0 to 1) shows how closely a cycle’s recent repetitions followed the rhythm it has today, in timing and size, with newer repetitions counting more. On: only steady cycles build the cycle wave, the dominant cycle and the FLDs. If there are not enough, the best unsteady ones fill the gaps and are marked unsteady in grey, so the chart is never empty. An unsteady cycle is never graded Strong. Off: unsteady cycles are allowed; the steady one is preferred only when cycles are close in strength.

Min stability (0-1)

Default: 0.5

Where steady starts: the cut-off for Require stability and for the steady or unsteady label in the panel.

Cycle quality check

Default: On

Grades each cycle on how clearly it stands out and how often it repeats. Turning it off removes the grades.

Real-cycle test

Default: Standard

How strict the test is. Standard is recommended. Strict confirms fewer cycles. Loose confirms more, including more false ones; the panel flags Loose as an expert setting.

Options: Standard, Strict, Loose

Minimum repetitions in the window

Default: 5

How many times a cycle must fit in the analysis window to be confirmed. Fewer repeats give a less dependable cycle.

Bigger cycle multiple

Default: 2.0

Where the full table looks for the bigger "backdrop" cycle, as a multiple of the dominant cycle. 2 means about twice as long.

🌊 Cycle wave

How the cycle wave is built from the cycles the scan found.

Cycles in composite

Default: 3

How many cycles are added together to draw the wave. More cycles add detail but make the wave busier.

Minimum spacing between cycles (x)

Default: 1.3

Each cycle in the wave must be at least this many times longer or shorter than every other one, so the same rhythm is not counted twice. 2 gives harmonic-style spacing like Hurst’s ladder; 1 turns the rule off. If no cycle is far enough apart, the wave uses fewer cycles.

Trend under the dashed wave

Default: Damped

How the trend is carried forward under the projection. Damped: the trend gradually flattens. Linear: it continues at today’s slope. Flat: no trend, just the cycles.

Options: Damped, Linear, Flat

🌀 Hurst layer

Hurst’s tools on the chart: FLDs, crossings, troughs, targets and expected troughs. Three choices decide everything: which cycles, which one you trade, and which FLD lines to draw.

Show Hurst layer

Default: On

Turns the whole Hurst layer on or off, including the signal and the FLD Target row.

Cycles

Default: Spectral analysis

Where the three cycles come from. Spectral analysis: the three cycles measured by the scan, the same ones as the cycle wave. Hurst classic: Hurst’s ladder (for example 20D, 40D, 80D), adjusted to this market and centred on its dominant cycle.

Options: Spectral analysis, Hurst classic

Trade cycle

Default: Dominant

Which of the three cycles you trade. Its FLD gives the crossings, the FLD target, the stop and the signal. The other two become the agreement cycles: they set the grade and the Bigger trend row. Dominant: the strongest cycle. Shortest: faster, earlier trades. Longest: slower, bigger moves.

Options: Dominant, Shortest, Middle, Longest

FLD lines

Default: Trade cycle only

Trade cycle only: just the FLD of the cycle you trade. All three: adds the two agreement FLDs. Troughs (◆) are shown for all three cycles either way.

Options: Trade cycle only, All three

Recent cycles shown (troughs and FLDs)

Default: 4

Troughs for all three cycles, and the FLD lines and crossings, are drawn over the span of the longest cycle’s last this many troughs. 0 shows the full history. Calculations always use the full history.

Clean trading view

Default: Off

Shows only what you need to trade: the trade cycle’s FLD with its crossings, troughs and target, plus the trade levels.

Expected trough range

Default: 0.25

How wide the whiskers around each expected trough are, as a fraction of the cycle.

Show: FLD lines, crossings, past troughs, expected troughs, FLD targets

Default: All on

Turn individual parts of the Hurst layer on or off.

Next FLD and target clusters

Default: On

Marks the nearest longer cycle’s FLD in the trade’s direction, where price often pauses, and highlights where two or more cycles’ open targets sit close together (◎). Both also appear in the FLD Target row.

Cycle colours

Default: Green / orange / purple

Colours by length: shortest, middle and longest. The trade cycle keeps its colour, whichever it is.

Hurst table position

Default: Bottom left

Where the Hurst table sits when Simple view is off.

🎯 Trade signal

The FLD trade rule built into CyclesX.

Show trade table

Default: On

Shows the trade details table when Simple view is off.

Trade rule

Default: Quarter cycle

Quarter cycle: enter after confirmation, stop at the turn before the crossing, exit a quarter cycle later. FLD target: take profit at the FLD target, or exit after one cycle.

Options: Quarter cycle, FLD target

Entry (FLD target rule only)

Default: Market (close)

Market: enter at the close once the signal is live, if reward to risk is high enough. Limit at FLD level: a limit order at the crossing level, valid for a quarter cycle.

Options: Market (close), Limit at FLD level

Min reward:risk (FLD target rule only)

Default: 0.8

The smallest reward to risk the FLD target rule will accept.

Confirmation bars

Default: 1

How many bars price must keep closing on the new side of the FLD before the trade is live. 0 turns it off.

Require the two other FLDs to agree

Default: On

At the crossing, price must be on the trade’s side of both agreement cycles’ FLDs.

Require a confirmed cycle

Default: Off

Only allow signals when the dominant cycle is Confirmed or Strong.

Base risk per trade (% of account)

Default: 1.0

The suggested risk for grade A. Grade B uses 75%, grade C 50%.

Trade table position

Default: Top left

Where the trade table sits when Simple view is off.

Screener mode

Default: Off

Caps the window at 500 bars, the most the Pine Screener calculates. Tick it to see on the chart exactly what the screener sees.

📋 Panel, tables and dates

The panel, the full tables, and how dates are shown.

Simple view

Default: On

One panel in plain words. Untick for the full tables.

Panel on

Default: Price chart

Price chart: over the candles, so it also shows in the TradingView phone app. Indicator pane: in the pane. Both: in both places.

Options: Price chart, Indicator pane, Both

Compact panel (phones)

Default: Off

Shorter labels and wording, smaller text, and long rows wrapped so the panel fits a small screen.

Panel transparency %

Default: 0

Makes the panel background see-through so the candles stay visible.

Rows to show

Default: All

Tick boxes for each row: Dominant Cycle, Composite, Position, Turn Zone, Cycle RSI, Bigger trend, Signal, FLD Target, Summary.

Time zone for dates

Default: Exchange

The time zone for every date and time in the panel. Cities are listed west to east with their winter offset; daylight saving is applied automatically, and the panel header shows the offset in use today.

Position / text size

Default: Top right / Normal

Where the panel sits and how large its text is.

Colours

Default: Dark theme

Background, label, value, title row and explanation colours.

Show explanations column

Default: On

In the full tables, a third column with a one-line reminder of what each row means.
