Trading with CyclesX

A complete way to trade with the indicator: direction from the timeframe above, quality as your trust dial, the FLD for entries and targets, and clear risk rules.

The method

Trade one timeframe and read direction from the one above it. Let the cycle grade tell you how much to trust what you see. Enter on the trade cycle’s FLD, aim for its target, and let part of the position run when the cycle peak is due later.

HIGHER TIMEFRAME: RISING STOP below the trough FLD crossing FLD target: take part Cycle peak: rest exits
Direction from above, entry on the FLD, part at the target, the rest towards the cycle peak.

Step 1

Direction from the timeframe above

Trade one timeframe and read direction from the one above it: trading the daily, read the weekly; trading the 4h, read the daily.

The higher timeframe’s cycle wave and Position row tell you which way momentum is heading and roughly where price should end up. Its cycle grade tells you how much to lean on that view: Strong or Confirmed, lean on it; Developing, lean lightly; Low confidence, treat it as neutral.

In CyclesX

On the higher timeframe: Position in Cycle (rising or falling, and when the next turn is due) and the Dominant Cycle grade. Tip: keep a second chart tab open on the higher timeframe.

Step 2

Trade the dominant cycle’s FLD

Price tends to respond most to the rhythm that is actually strongest in the market. CyclesX therefore trades the FLD of the dominant cycle by default, built on measured cycles rather than textbook averages.

The other two cycles are your agreement cycles. When price is on the same side of their FLDs, the cycles are pulling together.

In CyclesX

Hurst layer: Cycles = Spectral analysis, Trade cycle = Dominant (both default). The FLD Target row and the signal use the trade cycle. Set FLD lines to All three to see the agreement FLDs.

Step 3

Choose your entry by risk appetite

There is more than one sensible entry. Earlier entries give a better price and a closer stop, but less confirmation. Pick the one that matches the quality of the setup and your appetite for risk, and size accordingly. The table below sets them out.

In CyclesX

Turn: Position shows "Trough due" with a ● and the Turn Zone is 5 or more. Crossings: the × marks on each FLD, and the Signal row once the crossing holds.

Step 4

Check that target and cycle agree

The FLD target should point the same way as the cycle wave and be due around the same time as, or before, the next cycle peak. When they agree and the cycle is Confirmed or Strong, the setup is at its best.

If the target points one way and the cycle the other, stand aside or size down.

In CyclesX

The Summary row says whether the FLD target and the cycle turn agree, and how far apart their dates are.

Step 5

Exits and risk

Stop: below the trough the FLD target is measured from (above the peak for shorts).

Main exit: take profit at the FLD target. If the cycle peak is due well after the target, take part of the position at the target, move the stop on the rest to entry, and let it run towards the projected peak.

Exit the rest if price closes back through the trade cycle’s FLD, or when the peak window passes.

Size: risk a fixed share of the account per trade, and less for earlier entries or lower grades. Step aside when the higher timeframe turns against you.

In CyclesX

The stop and target are drawn on the chart when a signal qualifies. The signal grade (A, B, C) and the suggested risk scale with how many agreement cycles back the trade.

Pre-trade checklist

  1. □Higher timeframe cycle points my way.
  2. □Higher timeframe grade is Developing or better (Confirmed or Strong for full size).
  3. □Trade cycle on my timeframe is Confirmed or Strong.
  4. □My entry type matches the setup quality.
  5. □FLD target points the same way as the cycle wave.
  6. □Target is due before, or around, the next cycle peak.
